RoHS/WEEE
The European Union (EU) enacted environmental legislation restricting the
use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipments effective
July of 2006. This directive, known as RoHS (Regulation of Hazardous Substances),
has restrictions on the following list of hazardous substances:
- Lead
- Cadmium
- Mercury
- Hexavalent Chromium
- Polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs)
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
Additionally, recycling legislation known as WEEE (Waste Electrical and
Electronic Equipment) addresses the need to conserve landfill and to support
more sustainable development by mandating recycling. WEEE requirements are
effective August 13, 2005.
Producers who sell their products abroad will
be affected, unless products manufactured are exempt (exemptions listed
in the regulations). Similar US environmental legislation has been enacted
in several states, including California.
EE Technologies’ goal is to provide a safe and healthy workplace for our
employees and to perform our operations with minimal impact on the
environment. EE Technologies strives for continual improvement in
reduction of waste and in providing the resources and tools to support
safety and health.
